ARKANSAS TWISTERS HISTORY The Arkansas Twisters football organization is a charter member of the areanfootball2 league that began play in 2000. The season runs April through July, with the playoffs in August that culminate with the championship game, the ArenaCup. The Twisters have thrilled fans since the very first season with the fastest paced scoring in sports along with some of the most dramatic games around. The Twisters hold numerous attendance records, including the overall af2 record of 16,058, twice.
The af2 is a developmental league to the Arena Football League, and the Twisters have sent their share of players onto the next level like CJ McLain, Steve Watson, Kimani Jones and Kahlil Carter, but the most notable success story is Reggie Swinton. Having almost given up on making the NFL and football as a career, Swinton gave football one more shot with the Arkansas Twisters in 2001 and proceeded to set practically every single season record the team has. He was able to parlay that success into a contract with the Dallas Cowboys and has gone on to have a great career as a receiver and return specialist in the National Football League.
The Twisters have had their share of success in the af2, having made the playoffs in ’02, ’03 and '06. In ’03, The Arkansas Twisters have done many great things on the field and in the community since its first year. But the one thing the team has not done is win the big game and bring a championship home to |
